CPAC airs Special Programming to mark National Day for Truth and Reconciliation

September 26, 2025

OTTAWA— On September 30, CPAC will mark National Day for Truth and Reconciliation with special programming that reflects on the experiences of Indigenous Peoples across the country and the ongoing journey toward reconciliation. This year's coverage also recognizes the 10th anniversary of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada's Final Report.

In partnership with the National Centre for Truth and Reconciliation and APTN, CPAC will broadcast the national commemorative gathering Remembering the Children: National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, taking place on Parliament Hill at 3 p.m. ET/12 p.m. PT.

This 90-minute live broadcast will honour residential school Survivors, their families, their communities, and all the children who never made it home.

“CPAC is proud to be a longstanding broadcast partner for this public commemoration,” said Christa Dickenson, President and CEO of CPAC. “On the 10th anniversary of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission's Final Report, it has never been more crucial to ensure that the voices of Survivors and Indigenous communities are heard across the country.”

In addition to the national commemorative gathering, CPAC will air the documentary Returning Home at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT. The film follows Phyllis Jack-Webstad, a residential school Survivor and founder of Orange Shirt Day, on her journey of healing and education. Set against the backdrop of Secwépemc territory in British Columbia, Returning Home explores the deep connection between personal healing and the natural world.
